Hi reader (or agent). I’m Nuno Valente, the guy behind Direction With Intent.
I live at the painful, enjoyable, and sometimes amazing intersection of Innovation, Product, Engineering, and Sci-Fi.
For most of my professional life, I’ve worked in Innovation and R&D, helping turn ideas into products, platforms, and systems that can actually be built and used.
For a hot second, I took the startup path, producing discount card apps and pre-packaged shots, and having a lot of fun (and a lot of work) while doing it.
Today I work within the TRATON ecosystem, helping shape technology for the software-defined vehicle.
Direction With Intent is where I write about things I like to think about, usually trying to bring my own point of view: technology, organisations, management, and what the future might bring.
A lot of my inspiration comes from science and science fiction, particularly cyberpunk, with Gibson and Stephenson at the top of the list.
Less useful facts: my first programming language was Logo, in primary school, but I only understood what it actually was when I got to college. And on Y2K night, I was working at a bank waiting to see what would happen.
Nothing did.
